Corina Pequeño

Corina A. Pequeño, 85, was called into the Lord’s kingdom on June 2, 2023. She passed away peacefully in her home in San Benito, Texas surrounded by her loving family.

Corina is preceded in death by her husband, Rene Pequeño Sr.; great grandson, Devin Rene Leal; parents, Tomas and Eva Aguirre; her brothers, Eugenio L. Aguirre, Thomas L. Aguirre, Robert “Bubba” Aguirre, and sisters, Olga A. Villarreal, Piedad A. Rodriguez, Viola Dye, Mary Alice Cavazos, Florestella Aguirre and Eva Padilla.

Corina married the love of her life, Rene, in 1961 and shared fifty-eight blissful years of marriage together. Together they lovingly raised four children, Rene (Lori) Pequeño Jr., Cynthia Nypaver (Gilbert Sada), Orlando (Patty) Pequeño, and Geno (Monica) Pequeño. Rene and Corina were blessed with eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She is also survived by her brother, Jose “Pepe “Aguirre.

Corina was the matriarch of the Pequeño family and, as a homemaker, loved caring for her family. Rene and Corina provided the same love, warmth, and support to the numerous grandchildren they helped raise.

She enjoyed family barbecues, gambling, singing, dancing, attending car shows, watching boxing, and cruising with her husband in his 1959 Chevy Apache. Corina had immense faith in God and enjoyed attending the Basilica of our Lady of San Juan del Valle in San Juan, Texas,

The Pequeño family extends a special thank you to the American Medical Hospice Center and her caregiver, Juanita Calles, who loved and cared for Corina until the very end. 

The family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, June 8, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7 o’clock on Thursday evening A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, June 9, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church in San Benito. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
