Adela L. Garza, passed away peacefully at home, on July 23, 2025, at the age of 91. She was born in Brownsville, Texas to Octaviano and Manuela Loera on November 6, 1933, and grew up in Laureles, Texas.
Adela was married to Alberto Garza Sr. for 73 years. Together, they built Garza Farms, a producer of okra, squash, and many other crops and vegetables. Adela was a strong-willed woman whose determination helped lead to the success of Garza Farms. Adela was very active in the daily operations of the farm and would assist her husband Alberto by driving tractors, weighing vegetables, and even delivering crops to the packing sheds. She also managed all financial aspects of the farm. In addition to her work on the farm, she made the time to pick up all her grandchildren and their friends after school and take them to and from their extra-curricular activities. This brought her much joy. Mamo (as her grandchildren called her) was known to have a love for music and light up at the sound of mariachis.
During Adela’s free time, she enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas, Wendover, and Lake Charles, Louisiana to gamble and spend time with friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Alberto Garza Sr., her son, Alberto Garza Jr and daughter in law Ruby Lee Garza; her parents Octaviano and Manuela Loera; her brothers, Raul, Graciano, Reymundo, Lucio, Rafael, and Pedro Loera; and her sisters Genoveva Loera Cisneros and Guadalupe Jaramillo.
