Agustin López, Sr.

Agustín López, Sr., 80, passed away unexpectedly at his home on October 18, 2021. He was born to the late Faustino López, Sr. and Emérita Alvarez López on September 15, 1941 in Zacatecas, México.

He spent most of his life farming, ranching, and caring for all types of animals.  He was a valued employee of the Bayview Irrigation District where he worked as a foreman until his retirement after 23 years of dedicated service.

Agustin’s loved ones will remember him telling jokes, singing and dancing, and watching western movies. His family and friends are deeply saddened by the unexpected loss of a truly amazing man. This beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle was extremely rich in family and lit up everyone’s life with love, happiness, and laughter.

Left to treasure Agustin’s memory is his loving wife, Anatolia López; his children, Agustín López Jr. (Amy), Isabel Potter (William, Sr.), Hector López Sr. (Monica), Eva Ramirez (Rodolfo Sr.), Margarita Harrison (William), Adán López (Eliza), Graciela Summerfield (Aaron), Robert López, Esmeralda Pinnell (Corey); 35 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; and, 10 brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, Faustino, Sr., and Emérita López.

The Lopez family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home.  A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 6:00 on Wednesday evening. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Los Fresnos with the Rev. Msgr. Pedro Briseño, Celebrant.  Following the Mass, Agustin will be laid to rest at Los Cuates Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Hector López Jr., Roberto López Jr., Rodolfo Ramirez Jr., Agustín López, William Potter Jr., and Adán López Jr.  Honored to serve as honorary pallbearers are Zachary Summerfield, Isaac Harrison, Jax Pinnell, Michael Pinnell.
