Anatolia Alvarez Lopez, age 82, of Los Fresnos, Texas, entered into eternal rest on January 2, 2026, at Harlingen Medical Center, surrounded by the love of her family.
She was born on June 3, 1943, in Los Fresnos, Texas, to Crecencio Alvarez Monsivais and Santiaga Espinoza Pintor. Anatolia lived a life rooted in strength, faith, and deep devotion to her family. She found joy in a simple, quiet life on the ranch, where her selfless love was felt by all who knew her. She always took the time to check on others and genuinely cared about how they were doing.
Anatolia was the pillar and foundation of the Lopez family, and her home was always open, filled with warm laughter, unconditional love, and food for everyone. She showed her love through cooking, feeding anyone who walked through her door, including family, friends, and even workers that stopped by. Her home was often filled with the comforting smell of homemade foods like mole, tortillas and chile. Many of her meals included her famous rice and beans. Those small moments meant everything.
She is now at peace, reunited in heaven, with her beloved husband and love of her life, Agustin Lopez Sr.
Anatolia leaves behind her loving children: Agustin Lopez Jr. (Amy), Isabel Potter (William Sr.), Hector Lopez Sr. (Monica), Eva Ramirez (Rodolfo Sr.), Margarita Harrison (William), Adan Lopez Sr. (Eliza), Graciela Summerfield (Aaron), Robert Lopez Sr., and Esmeralda Pinnell (Corey). She is also survived by her extended family: her daughter-in-law, Juanita Lopez, two sisters, and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
She was a proud grandmother to 35 grandchildren, a beloved great-grandmother to 39 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandmother to two, each of whom brought her immeasurable joy.
A faithful Catholic who was devoted to her beliefs, Anatolia’s faith guided her life. She put her trust in God and her devotion to the church and saints was clearly visible. While we mourn her passing, we rejoice in the promise of eternal truth, knowing she is living happily in everlasting life, reunited with her husband. She found comfort in attending church, praying the rosary, and viewing religious shows. In her quieter moments, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, and watching television, always happiest when surrounded by family.
The Lopez family will receive friends and relatives on Monday, January 5, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7:00 o’clock Monday evening. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Los Fresnos. Following the Mass, Anatolia will be laid to rest at Los Cuates Cemetery in Los Fresnos.
Those honored to serve as active pallbearers are Hector Lopez Jr., Rodolfo Ramirez Jr., Robert Lopez Jr., Augustin P. Lopez, Hector J. Lopez, and Adan Lopez Jr. Honorary pallbearers include William Potter Jr., Zachary Summerfield, Jax Pinnell, Isaac Harrison, Austin Lopez, and Michael Pinnell.
Anatolia will be remembered as a strong, faithful, caring and loving woman, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and matriarch whose faith and sacrifices shaped generations. Though she has entered eternal rest, her love and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
