Anita Ann Prescott, 91, passed away to be with the Lord on May 20, 2026, in Harlingen, Texas. Born on December 16, 1934, in Sayre, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Grover C. (Pete) Montgomery and Juanita A. Sides Montgomery.
She was married to Dale O. Prescott on August 12, 1956 at the First Baptist Church in Sayre, Oklahoma. They attended college and afterward received Master’s degrees from the University of Oklahoma. Anita earned a Master’s degree in Education, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She dedicated her career to education, serving as a teacher and counselor from 1956 until her retirement in 1982. Throughout her 26 years of service, she worked in several Oklahoma communities, as well as those in the Texas Panhandle, the last being Stratford, Texas.
Upon retiring, they enjoyed traveling, especially in their RV, and finally stopped in the Rio Grande Valley. In the early 1980s, they were managers at Park Place Estates, an RV resort in Harlingen, Texas. After retiring again, she kept a home there for 40 years.
Anita was a lifelong Baptist and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
In her leisure time, Anita enjoyed sewing and cross-stitching. In her youth she played the piano, however in her senior years she enjoyed playing the ukulele, especially with the Ukulele Ladies, who performed all across the Valley. She also was an avid reader and especially enjoyed reading her Bible.
Those who passed away before Anita include her granddaughter, baby Tracy Gene Kelly, her parents and husband as well as her precious great-granddaughter, baby Faith Zoe Lux.
She is survived by her children Patricia A. Smith, Michael L. Prescott (Pamela), and Dalene P. Lux (Christopher). The family extends their sincere gratitude to her faithful caregiver Anita Cortez, as well as other caregivers in her later years. Thanks also to Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
