Antonio Daniel "Tony" Garcia

Antonio Daniel “Tony” Garcia passed away on Monday, December 13, 2021 in Cheyenne, Wyoming.  He was born in Stillwater, Oklahoma on December 29, 1962 to Antonio Daniel Garcia and Beatrice V. Garcia Thompson. He was a life-long resident of San Benito with the exception of the many other cities he resided in across the nation during his decades-long career in the construction industry.

Tony was an exceptional builder and craftsman with the ability to construct most anything out of wood or steel whether it be a piece of furniture or 70-foot sliding doors for commercial airline hangars.

For the past several years, Tony had been supervising construction of wind turbine farms throughout Texas and the Midwest. The opportunity to work outdoors and be involved in large-scale projects drove the passion for his work.  When he wasn’t working, Tony longed to visit his hometown and enjoy his down-time fishing in the Lower Laguna Madre with family and friends.  He also looked forward to time he could tend to his cattle on the ranch.

Tony is survived by his beloved family - his love, Ericka Crary who was by his side throughout many of his travels from job to job; his son, Antonio “Tony” D. Garcia; his daughter, Danielle J. Garcia; his father, Leo J. Thompson; his siblings, Aleida Garcia Agado (Dan), Alisa Garcia Godinich (Douglas), Alejandro “Hondo” Javier Garcia (Becky), Martha Thompson Wooten (Jeff), Janet Thompson Ragsdale, and Judy Thompson Garcia (Ray); and many nephews and nieces.

Sadly, Tony preceded the death of his beloved mother, Beatrice V. Thompson by a day.

Tony’s family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7 o’clock on Wednesday evening. Family and friends will gather Thursday, December 23, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Harlingen for a Funeral Mass.
