Arturo Eduardo Sanchez — “Art” to just about everyone—was welcomed into fullness of God’s mercy on May 24, 2025, at the age of 55. He left this world far too soon, but not without leaving an extraordinary legacy of love, generosity, and humor that lives on in everyone who knew him.
A resident of San Antonio, he was born on January 25, 1970, in San Benito, Texas, Art was the eldest son of Celeste Zepeda Sanchez and Arturo Francisco Sanchez. He was raised in a home where family bonding was constant, and that deep connection to family became the guiding principle of his life.
A graduate of San Benito High School and the University of Texas at San Antonio, Art took great pride in his work—first at USAA, and later at Informatica, where he not only thrived but was repeatedly recognized for excellence. He brought brilliance, diligence, and good humor to everything he did.
Art was an Eagle Scout and later a dedicated Scout leader. He loved the outdoors, loved sports, and loved telling jokes that usually made everyone roll their eyes before they smiled. He delighted in the simple joy of making others laugh—usually with a pun—and his timing was impeccable.
He loved deeply and without hesitation. Art was the proud father of Jasmine N. Sanchez and Joshua E. Sanchez, and the devoted bonus dad to Antonia and Jacob Aviles, whom he embraced fully as his own. He was also a doting grandfather to Violet, Nicholas, and Noah. His son Joshua was his best friend—Art loved him more than life itself and never missed a chance to say so.
He never ended a conversation without saying “I love you.” That wasn’t just a habit—it was a philosophy. Art loved out loud. He gave generously, supported family fiercely, and showed up for people in ways big and small. His presence was comforting, his spirit constant, and his loyalty unmatched.
He is survived by his parents; his brothers Carlos L. Sanchez (Carmen) and Luis M. Sanchez; his children and grandchildren; a special aunt and uncle Olivia & Robert Rivas; his nieces Logan Medow and Lauren Sanchez; his primas hermanas Larissa Leal and Anna Ramirez; and a wide, joyful family of aunts, uncles, cousins —too numerous to mention, friends, co-workers, scouts, and neighbors, all whose lives he touched. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Luis & Cuca Sanchez and Lalo & Anita Zepeda.
If you want to honor Art, do what he would do: lend a hand, cheer on your team, forgive freely, never be afraid to tell a terrible joke just to make someone smile, and say “I love you” a little more often. Be the reason someone feels lighter at the end of the day. Art made everyone feel so special by his love. That’s how he lived—and that’s how he’ll always be remembered.
