August Smith “Buddy” Haynes peacefully passed on January 30, 2023 at eighty-seven years of age. He was born to the late Elbert Wright Haynes and Mabel Weber Haynes on May 15, 1935 in Combes, Texas.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army where he attained the rank of Private First Class. Buddy retired from Sea Garden Sales where he was a valued, longtime employee and manager. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing the Arroyo Colorado, spending time with his family, and watching his favorite TV shows.
Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert W. and Mabel W. Haynes; brother, Melvin B. Haynes; and sisters, Loris Christian and Bernice Mundine.
Left to treasure Buddy’s memory is his wife, Muril Haynes; his son, Charles R. Clark; granddaughters, Kristina Jardon, Dawn Preston, and Rebecca (Mike) Bryant; great-grandchildren, Mason and Cheyenne Maner, Michael (Lorena Esquivel), Dwight (Kari), Emily, Tristan, and Ashton Preston, Anita Prichard, Katie, Sarah, Colton, and Cailyn Bryant; and great-great grandchildren, Killian, Emily, Chloe, Jayden, Natas, Jayden, Nicholas, Rachel, Hunter, Olive, JJ, Jackson, Madeline, Catriona, and Conner.
A graveside service and interment will take place Friday, February 3, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Harlingen-Combes Memorial Cemetery. The American Legion Post 205 Honor Guard will render military honors.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Michael Preston Jr., Dwight Preston, Emily Preston, Tristan Preston, Cheyenne Maner, Aston Preston, Colton Bryant, and Cailyn Bryant.
