Beatrice M. Betts

Our beautiful mom, Beatrice “Skeets” Mae Betts, 102 or known to her grandchildren and great grandchildren as “Mama Gee” suddenly passed away on May 6, 2025.

She was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on September 15, 1922, to Ethel Arnold and W. Edgar Johnston. They later moved to Harlingen where she graduated with the Class of 1940.

After meeting the love of her life, Thomas Lloyd Betts on a blind date, they married on December 29, 1941. They were blessed with 57 years together and four children.

Her greatest joy and achievement was her close-knit family. She enjoyed hosting holidays and vacationing on South Padre Island. She also loved dancing, playing bridge, cooking, traveling and the Dallas Cowboys.

As a longtime resident of La Feria, she developed many lifelong friendships. She had a gift for conversation and her kitchen door was always open.

For the past nine years she was a resident of Golden Palms Retirement Center.

She was the matriarch of our family and will forever be in our hearts.

Left to cherish Beatrice’s memory are her children, Patricia Easterling (Robert) of Victoria, Texas, Lloyd Betts of La Feria, Texas, Lindy Tucker (Jerry) of Austin, Texas, Thom Betts (John) of Dallas, Texas along with six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
