“Betsy” Walters, 92, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 22, 2008. She was born November 15, 1915 in Ben Arnold, Texas to Gustave Wendell and Florence Martin Ries. Her family was a pioneering family in the Combes area. She is survived by three brothers, Edgar Howard and Sacks Ries.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Othello Kemble Walters and daughter, Cherie Elizabeth Wolford.
Surviving children are Florence Ann Hiett (Mardy), Thel Walters, Pat McAlister, and Kemble Walters (Genie); 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 25 from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a gathering of friends and family from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 26, 2 p.m., at First Baptist Church in Combes, Texas. Interment will follow at Harlingen-Combes Cemetery.
