Cobretti Rae Rodriguez, age 17, passed away on March 1, 2026, in Harlingen, Texas. He was born on June 9, 2008, in Harlingen, Texas, to Eric Rodriguez and JoAnna Galvan.
Cobretti was a dedicated junior at San Benito High School, where he was actively working towards his diploma and envisioning his future in the Law Enforcement Pathway through the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program. He was recognized as "Dog of the Week" by the San Benito High School Athletic Department and co-owned R&C Lawncare with Roly Cortez.
Cobretti was an active member of St. Benedict Catholic Church and participated in Lifeline Heart of Worship. He had a passion for working on and modifying his truck, cutting grass to earn his own income, and challenging himself through physical fitness. He enjoyed attending church services regularly, as well as savoring his favorite meals at Taco Bell, Raising Cane’s, Las Cazuelas of San Benito, and a particular love for country music.
Cobretti is preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, Salvador and Dora Tagle and Conrado and Guadalupe Galvan, as well as his paternal great-grandparents, Jesus and Elvira Rodriguez and Henry and Mary Garcia.
He is survived by his father, Eric Rodriguez (Jessica Draper); his mother, JoAnna Galvan (Roel Olivares); his siblings, Averick Rodriguez, Hazel Olivares, Julian Trillo, Kel Gonzales, Kalista Olivares; his grandparents, Robert and Minerva Galvan, Arturo and Carmen Rodriguez, and Norma Garcia-Solis; his aunt, Yvonne Rodriguez; his uncle and aunt, Robert Ray and Jessica Galvan; and his cousins A.J. Martinez, Zachary Galvan, Joshua Rae Galvan, Josiah Rae Galvan, Jonathan Rae Galvan, Jaden Rae Galvan.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Harlingen First Responders, the Valley Baptist Medical Staff, and Ciara Saldaña with Donate Life Texas for their support during this time.
They extend their thanks to his Greyhound family, teammates, coaches, and the dedicated teachers and staff from Ed Downs Elementary School, Dr. Cash Elementary School, Miller Jordan Middle School, and San Benito High School.
Visitation for Cobretti will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home, with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church.
Serving as pallbearers will be Zachary Galvan, Joshua Rae Galvan, Josiah Rae Galvan, Jonathan Rae Galvan, Jaden Rae Galvan, Averick Rae Rodriguez, Art “A.J.” Martinez, Julian Trillo, Kel Gonzales, and Connor Cortez. Honorary pallbearers include Roly Cortez, Peter Buenrostro, Angel Parra, Kaleb Ruelas, Noah Garcia, Abdiel Sandoval, Allen Trevino, Tony Leija, Jesus Lozano, Carlos Mares, Ryan Rodriguez, Ezra Lozano, Joshua Castillo, Albert Gonzalez, Sonny Ratliff, Santiago Cruz, Henry Quiroz, Hogan Cortez, Carter Draper, and Collin Draper.
Services for Cobretti will conclude after the Mass.
