Daniel Lee “Dan” Wright was born in Mercedes, Texas May 31, 1952 to late Rev. Arthur Wright and Letha Thurman Wright.
Dan worked in construction his entire adult life, starting Wright Way Construction with his brother and Border Contractors with his wife. He loved the road construction and underground utility industry and was one of the best at what he did.
Next to his family, Dan loved fishing and hunting and as he would say, “There is no better day than hunting quail over good bird dogs,” and he had his share of them.
He was a believer in Jesus Christ and we know that Dan is with his Savior and Lord. We have no doubt that we know where he is, but we will sorely miss him until the day we are all together again.
Dan is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Gwendolyn Wright; and his brother, Robert Wright. He is survived by his wife, Vicky Wright; daughter, Stephanie Wright Rhyner (Buck); son, Sabin Wright (Susan Coffman); three grandsons who were his pride and joy, Ty Garrett Rhyner, Jake Hunter Rhyner, and Luke Daniel Wright; brother-in-law, Dr. Jerry and Mrs. Carlene Gribble, and his beloved dogs, Katie, Jackie, and Charly. He also is survived by three nieces, four nephews, and four cousins – the O’Donnell brothers.
Ty Garrett Rhyner, Jake Hunter Rhyner, and Luke Daniel Wright will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The Wright family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A celebration of Dan’s life will begin at 2 o’clock with Dr. Danny Anderson officiating.
