It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dora Gutierrez Campbell, age 57, on September 6, 2025. Dora was a devoted wife, loving mother, and a friend admired by many. She walked by faith every day and leaves behind a legacy of strength, perseverance, and kindness.
Born in San Benito, TX, Dora dedicated her life to serving the Lord, using her beautiful voice to honor and praise Him. She was a member of Iglesia Evangelica Cristiana Espiritual in San Benito, TX. She participated as a musician in the church nearly all of her life and became known for her gift of singing and playing the guitar.
While Dora was primarily a homemaker in her 34 years of marriage, her love for writing prose and poetry afforded her the opportunity to earn a Bachelor’s degree in English from The University of Texas at Brownsville. Outside of dedicating herself to her family and her studies, Dora enjoyed making delectable treats for her friends and family. Other hobbies included photography, traveling, and rooting for her favorite sports teams.
She is preceded in death by her father, Joaquin Lopez Gutierrez, her mother, Dora Palomino Gutierrez, her husband, Kirtland Alexander Campbell, and is survived by her son, Mathew Aaron Campbell (Iris Gracia). She is also survived by a host of family members and friends, all of whom will deeply miss her infectious laugh and warm presence.
The Campbell family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A memorial service will begin at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening.
