Dora Limon Lopez, 86, peacefully passed from this life on June 25, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 20, 1935 to the late Vidal Torres Limon and Guadalupe Ledesma Limon in San Benito, Texas.
She retired from San Benito CISD after 28 years of dedicated service to the children of Dr. Cash Elementary School where she worked as a cafeteria food worker.
In her leisure time, Dora enjoyed working on word search puzzles and watching her favorite TV shows – Alaska Bush People, Life Below Zero, SVU, Criminal Minds, and General Hospital. She also loved to read, sometimes reading late into the night. She would laugh at herself because she would fall asleep while reading and wake up with the mystery novel she had been reading still in her hands.
She loved to cruise and enjoyed trying her luck at the casino nickel machines and eating at the buffet. She looked forward to breakfast with family at her favorite Mexican restaurant, Mi Tierra, on Sundays after church. Most of all, she loved spending time with her loved ones. She lived her life with deep faith, always devoting an hour to daily prayer to ask for blessings and protection for all her family. As her mother would say, “Dios por delante y nosotros atrás.”
Dora was preceded in death by two infant sons; her first husband, Hilario Rodriguez; her second husband, Eugenio Q. Lopez; her parents, Vidal T. and Guadalupe L. Limon; and her siblings, Carlos Limon, Alberto Limon, Alfredo Limon, Trinidad Limon, Ruben Limon, Aurelia Griffen, Lucia Salinas, and Julia Lopez.
Left to treasure Dora’s memory are her children, Dalia Rodriguez Nuernberger (Tom), Robert Rodriguez, Raul Lopez (Dina), Norma Linda Linan (Mario), Martha Aguilar (Gerardo), Elena Martinez (Jaime), Yolanda Ysasi (Orlando), and Christina Mendez.
She also leaves behind her grandchildren whom she adored: Ashley Kristen Rodriguez, David Vidal Rodriguez (Faith Sandberg Rodriguez), Cecilie Gonzalez (Willie Corzine), Brandon Lopez, Briana Lopez, Mario E.
