Doris Jean Croasmun, 85, peacefully passed away on November 23, 2025, in San Benito, Texas. Born on November 27, 1939, in Youngstown, Ohio, she was the daughter of Melvin H. Kloss and Rojeanne D. Kloss (née Wall).
Doris graduated from Youngstown South High School and completed police training; she pursued a career that combined her passions for service and law enforcement. Doris began her professional journey as a waitress before becoming a dedicated Law Enforcement Officer, serving both the Struthers Police Department and the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Department, where she earned a Marksman Badge with her .38 snub-nose pistol.
A person of faith, Doris was baptized at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Youngstown, Ohio, and later became an active member of Park Place Estates Chapel. She was actively involved in the Good Sams RV Club for many years and in the Park Place Estates Crafts Group, affectionately known as the "Happy Hookers."
Doris loved to travel with her husband in their RV, and she had a variety of hobbies, including dancing, ceramics, crocheting, and creating blankets, shawls, and dolls for the Ronald McDonald House and Hospice. Her passion for animals extended to caring for pets, including feral cats.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis L. Croasmun; her parents, Melvin “Bud” Kloss and Rojeanne D. Kloss; her brother, Edward Kloss; her sister, Shirley Hahn and her husband Dean; her nephew, Edward Kloss Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Darla Lowe Croasmun; her in-laws, Don H. and Kathryn Kuntz Croasmun; along with three brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law.
Doris is survived by her children: Don L. Croasmun (Stephanie Brown) of Struthers, Ohio; Dennis Croasmun (Sue) of Rootstown, Ohio; Daryl Croasmun of North Lima, Ohio; and David Croasmun of Peoria, Arizona. She will also be remembered by her grandchildren, Justin Croasmun (Ariel) of Atwater, Ohio; Jason Croasmun of Rootstown, Ohio; Leeda Croasmun (Brandon Long) of West Seattle, Washington; Jayme Lowe (Adam Jones) of Struthers, Ohio; and her great-grandchildren, Grace Moleiro of West Seattle, Washington; Wesley Jones of Struthers, Ohio; Wyatt and Maddy Croasmun of Atwater, Ohio. Additionally, she is survived by her sister-in-law, Nancy Croasmun of Harlingen, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff and maintenance personnel of Park Place Estates for their care and friendship over the years, as well as to Nancy Croasmun and Glenn Woessner for their support in recent times, and to Ralph Walls and Holly Haines for their enduring friendship.
