Elizabeth Salina Hayes, age 70, of San Benito, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025. Born on September 17, 1955, in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, she was the daughter of Austin “Tobey” and Cecil Hayes.
Lib graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in Queretaro, Mexico. She later earned a master's degree in science from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. She dedicated 40 years of her professional life to serving as a Laboratory Technician in various hospitals in Houston, including Memorial Hermann, Houston Methodist, and Baylor College of Medicine.
Lib was known for her passion for art and literature. She had a great love for animals and enjoyed engaging in video games in her leisure time.
Lib is preceded in death by her parents, Austin “Tobey” and Cecil Hayes; and her nephew, Byron Austin Hayes. She is survived by her siblings, Cynthia Hayes, Don and Lisa Hayes, Mike and Mona Hayes, and many nieces and grand nieces and nephews. She will be remembered fondly for her dry sense of humor and her remarkable strength.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and staff at Texas Oncology for their compassionate care.
