Estela V. De La Fuente

Estela V. De La Fuente, 75, peacefully passed away on October 9, 2023 in San Benito, Texas. She was born to the late Esteban and Eduvijes V. De La Fuente on January 9, 1948 in San Benito, Texas.

Estela was a graduate of San Benito High School and then attended Texas Southmost College. She worked and retired from Valley Morning Star.   She was then Director of Religious Education at St. Theresa Catholic Church and she taught CCD at St. Benedict Catholic Church up until her death.

In her leisure time, Estela enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Her nieces and nephews were the love of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Esteban and Eduvijes De La Fuente.

Left to treasure her memory are her four brothers, Esteban De La Fuente Jr. of Corpus Christi, TX, Jorge (Alma+) De La Fuente of San Benito, Luis (Nora) De La Fuente of Harlingen, TX, Gilberto (Patricia) De La Fuente of San Benito; her five sisters, Silvia (Lorenzo+) Martinez of Hereford, TX, Julia (Julio Mendez) Pena of Dumas, TX, Minerva (Mark) Rakherm of Winthrop Harbor, IL, Felipa (Paul) Resendez of San Benito, Lucy (Jorge) Garcia of San Benito; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by numerous close friends.

The family would like to thank  her caregiver and friend, Olga Cantu and all her friends that would drive her to her doctor's appointments and outings.

The De La Fuente family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, October 12, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7:00 o'clock Thursday evening.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 13, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Following the Mass, Estela will be laid to rest at Mont Meta Memorial Park.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Esteban De La Fuente Jr., Jorge De La Fuente, Luis De La Fuente, Gilberto De La Fuente, Gilberto De La Fuente Jr., and Jorge Garcia Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Julio Mendez, Mark Rakherm, Paul Resendez, and Jorge Garcia.
