Eva Herrera, 83, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born June 15, 1943, in San Benito, Texas, she was the daughter of Francisco Quezada and Celia Altatorre. Eva embraced her Catholic faith as a long-standing member of St. Theresa Catholic Church. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who treasured the time she spent with those she loved. She enjoyed shopping, decorating her home for the holidays, watching the Dallas cowboys, and listening to music. Though she will be deeply missed, the family is grateful for the many years they were blessed to have with her and will forever cherish the love, guidance, laughter and joy she brought into their lives.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Celia Quezada, and her daughter, Marta Elva. She is survived by her children, Joe Herrera (Lupe), Patricia Herrera, Marta Hollinger (Morgan), her grandchildren, J.T. Herrera, Michael Herrera (Jessica), Rosalie Hollinger, and Daniel Quintero as well as her sister Maria Oralia Gonzalez and her brothers Edelmiro (Juana) Quezada and Oscar (Esperanza) Quezada.
The family extends a special thanks to the wonderful team at Davita, especially Diana Delgado, for their kindness and care. The family also extends their deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Valley Baptist Medical Center for their compassionate care during Eva's final days.
The Herrera family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Theresa Catholic Church. Following the Mass, Eva will be laid to rest at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are J.T. Herrera, Michael Herrera, Morgan Hollinger, Joe Herrera, Daniel Quintero, Leodan Gonzales, and Leonel Gonzalez Jr.
