Faustino Galvan, 92, passed away on May 31, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born on February 15, 1932, in San Benito, Texas, he was the son of Francisco Galvan and Teresa Alonzo Galvan.
Most who personally knew Faustino knew him as “Tino”.
Tino was raised in the El Jardin neighborhood of San Benito, having graduated as a San Benito Greyhound. He was proud to have served as a Military Police Officer in the United States Army. Following his military service, he completed his studies at Pan American University. He put that degree to use for many years having retired from The State of Texas’ Department of Mental Health Services as a Certified Public Accountant.
Faustino was deeply committed to being a good provider to his family always taking on second jobs and even other jobs following his retirement. He was not one to shy away from laborious work and even enjoyed practicing some plumbing skills he picked up from his dad who was a master plumber.
Despite a couple of medical hiccups in his life, his mind was sharp as a tack, and he insisted that he was not going to allow his body to betray him. He spent a lot of time reading, always keeping up with current events, he made sure he took walks with his best friend Daisy (a rescue dog), and even worked out in the onsite gym, lifting weights.
He is preceded in death by his parents Francisco and Teresa Galvan, his brother Eustacio Galvan and sisters Benita G. Guerra and Juanita G. Guerra.
He is survived by the mother of his children Maria Diana Montemayor, his children, Melissa Ann Lucio (Ricardo), Christi Lynn Romero (Ramiro), and Michael Ray Galvan; his grandchildren, Daniel Lucio, David Lucio, Derek Lucio, Dario Lucio, Duran Lucio, Alyssa Romero, Mia Galvan, and Mikayla Galvan; five great grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Cipriano Galvan, Pedro Galvan, Victoria G. Cervantes, Trinidad Gil, and Apolonia Rodriguez; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his best friend Daisy who he loved very much.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. At the end of the viewing, there will be an opportunity for family and friends to share a couple of moments of any memory they have of Tino, from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. We ask that you keep your words short so others may have an opportunity to share.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Harley’s Hounds (a local animal rescue), the Special Olympics (an organization he used to volunteer for which gave him great joy), or any military organization that supports veteran’s families.
