Felipe G. Pedraza, age 91, of San Benito, entered eternal life on September 27, 2025. Felipe was born on February 5, 1934 in Donna, Tx to the late Nicolas and Josefa Pedraza. He was born the fourth of seven children. All three of his brothers, along with himself, entered into the military. Felipe was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. His time in the Army included tours to Japan and the Philippines.

After serving in the Army, Felipe worked for several different places that included a post office in California, the Brownville PUB Power Plant and ButterKrust. He later retired from there after working twenty years.

In his younger years, Felipe enjoyed listening to music especially his favorite song, “La Puerta Negra”. Another favorite of his was dancing to huapangos and danzónes. Later in life, he enjoyed fishing and watching all kinds of sports. He was an avid fan of The Texas Longhorns, the Dallas Cowboys and the Lady Hounds Softball.

Felipe is preceded in death by his parents: Nicolas and Josefa Pedraza; siblings: Jose (Juanita) Pedraza, Florencio Pedraza, Eugenio (Mary) Pedroza, Mary (Ruben) Zamarripa, Sarah Carey; Brother-in-law: Manuel Saucedo.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving spouse of 56 years, Paulita Pedraza; his daughter: Marisela Pedraza; his son: Javier Pedraza; his two grandsons: Gabriel Munoz and Joseph Munoz; his sister: Juanita Saucedo; brother-in-law: David Carey and numerous nieces, nephews and godchildren.

Special thanks to the staff of Valley Baptist Hospital, Dr. Brajesh Bhalta and Dr. Lucia Nguyen.

The Pedraza family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7 o’clock Thursday evening. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 10:00 am, St. Theresa Catholica Church celebrated by Fr. Joe Villalon. Following the mass, Felipe will be laid to rest at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Ceremony with full military honors.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Javier Pedraza, Luis Pedraza, Christopher Lopez, John Daniel Lopez, Roy De Leon and Ron Gonzales. Honorary pallbearers include Gabriel Munoz, Joseph Munoz, Richard Pedraza, George Pedraza and Victor Sauceda.
