HARLINGEN:
Florence S. (Sandor) Hamilton, 85, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2007 at her residence. Florence was born February 14, 1921 in Cleveland, Ohio to Benjamin and Mary Sandor. In 1938 she graduated from John Hay High School in Cleveland, Ohio and traveled to New York World’s Fair to compete for the national ranking in speed typing.
Florence was a medical secretary for the University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio and was also an executive secretary for Lubrizol Corporation in Cleveland, Ohio. On October 13, 1945 she married Donald Newton Hamilton at the First Presbyterian Church of East Cleveland.
An artist with a green thumb, Florence enjoyed gardening, African Violets and instructed others in the art of flower arranging. She was a tireless church volunteer and enjoyed square dancing. She and Don resided in Northeast Ohio, raising 3 children. Upon retirement, they move to South Texas.
Florence is survived by her husband, Donald N. Hamilton; sons, Donald Hamilton, Harry (Carol) Hamilton and William Hamilton; and grandchildren, Andrew, Mitchell and Bonnie.
A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, January 27, 2 p.m., at All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 499 N. Reagan St., San Benito, Texas with Rev. Dori Zubizarreta officiating.
An interment ceremony will be performed in Painesville, Ohio, at a date yet to be determined.
