Gary J. Johnson

Gary J. Johnson, 89, passed away Saturday, August 21, 2021 at his son’s residence in Waycross, Georgia. He was born to the late Kester and Merl Johnson on October 11, 1931 in Dayton, Ohio.

He served in the United States Air Force for 22 years and was a member of the Harlingen Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #2410.

Gary was a longtime Harlingen resident was a member of Harlingen’s First Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jewell B. Johnson and his parents.

Gary is survived by his son, Jeffery D. Johnson of Waycross, Georgia; a brother, Budde Johnson and his wife, Linda of Smithville, Texas; and a sister, Donna Saul of Dayton, Ohio.

Visitation will take place Thursday, September 2, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home, Chapel B. Gary will be laid to rest with full military honors Friday, September 3, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission, Texas.
