Gelacia M. Olivares

Gelacia M. Olivares, 85, passed peacefully from this life on July 22, 2021. A native of San Juan de Los Cerritos, San Luis Potosí, México, Gelacia was the daughter of the late Eulogio Manzano Zúñiga and Ángela Barrón de Manzano.

She was a devout Catholic, a parishioner at Our Lady Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, and a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She enjoyed cooking, fishing, and traveling.

Gelacia was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel G. Olivares, Jr.; brothers, Sotero Manzano Barrón and Taurino Manzano Barrón; and sister, Rachel Zúñiga.

Left to treasure her memory are her children, Juan Manuel (Elizabeth) Olivares, Juan Antonio (Dianne) Olivares, Roel (Jo Anna) Olivares, and Orlando (Veronica) Olivares; grandchildren, Kellyna, Jianluca, Juan Antonio II, Luis Manuel, Kalista, Hazel Renae, Cobretti Rodriguez, Averick Rodriguez, Annika, and Dominic; and her brother, Getrudez Manzano Barrón and sister Hilaria Turrubiartes.

Visitation will take place Monday, July 26, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin Monday evening at 7 o’clock. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Following the Mass, Gelacia will be laid to rest at Mont Meta Memorial Park.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Sergio Ramirez Jr., Juan Antonio Turrubiartes, Gilbert Sánchez, Raul Banda, Noe Galván, Balde Olivarez, and Bobby Vento.

Honorary pallbearers are Juan Antonio Olivares II, Luis Manuel Olivares, Dominic Olivares, Jianluca Olivares, Cobretti Rodriguez, and Averick Rodriguez.

Gelacia’s family wishes to extend special thanks to Santos San Pedro, Rosie Olivarez, Gracie Gonzales, Emma Galván, Norma Galván, Margie Huerta, and Brenda Martínez for caring for their mother during her time of need.
