Georgeanne (G’Anne) Weaver of Raymondville, Texas entered this world on February 5, 1951, and stepped into eternity on February 23, 2026. She is preceded in death by her father, Lucian (“Buster”) Lind, her mother, Colleen Lind, and brothers Michael & Matthew Lind. G’Anne is survived by her husband of 53 years, John Kent Weaver and two beautiful daughters, Jennifer Weaver of Helotes, Texas and Stephanie (Thorpe) Orton of Boise, Idaho. Other survivors include 3 grandchildren, Harllie Hawkes of Helotes, TX, David Swartz of Denver, CO, and Ava Swartz of Oberlin, OH. She is also survived by her sister Rebecca (Raymond) Jenkins of San Antonio, her two brothers, John Lind (Christopher Conroy) of Denver, and Pat (Gloria) Lind of Edinburg along with many wonderful aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Being a Valley native, Georgeanne attended her elementary school years at St. Joseph’s and Sacred Heart of Edinburg. In 1969, she graduated from Edinburg High School excelling in academics, cheerleading, student council, Girl’s State, and received the DAR award. Following graduation, she began her college career at Texas Women’s University in Denton, TX. She completed her studies at University of Texas at Austin in the Winter of 1972. Her degree pursuits were in elementary education, physical education, and a certification in MHMR. Her first employment was with Harlingen CISD.
Two weeks after graduating from college, she married the man God had chosen for her, John Kent Weaver of Harlingen, TX. The young couple moved many times (Houston, Austin, Edinburg) following her husband’s career with Luby’s Cafeterias, Inc. G’Anne was blessed to stay at home and raise their daughters until they became active in their school. At that time, she began working in public and private schools until her decision to earn a Masters in Liberal Arts from UTRGV in English. This led to employment at both UTRGV and STCC.
The couple retired in Raymondville, TX in 2003 where they filled their lives helping with grandchildren and working on the family ranch. G’Anne’s passion was hosting special occasions for her family and friends. It thrilled her to pass on God’s blessings to others. One of her happiest ranch chores was driving the tractor and shredding fencelines and senderos. The tractor cab was her mobile prayer closet where she’d pray so loudly, she no longer heard the sound of the tractor. Her life’s mantra was “You just can’t make it through this life without knowing and relying on Jesus!”
