Hipolito "Polo" Loredo Narvaez

August 13, 1947 — September 9, 2023

Hipolito (Polo) Loredo Narvaez, 76, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2023 in Los Fresnos, Texas.  He was born to the late Higinio Narvaez and Emilia Loredo Narvaez on August 13, 1947 in Los Fresnos, Texas.

Polo attended and graduated from Pan American University with Bachelor of Science degree. Then he went to attend the University of Texas Arlington and Universidad Automoma De Nuevo Leon where he received a master’s degree in social work. Polo further his studies at University of Texas Arlington and received a PhD ABD in social work.

He was a Licensed Master Social Worker and worked for Fresenuis, Rio Grande State Center, Sunglo, Bright Start Children Rehab Center, and Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.

Polo served as the Mayor of Los Fresnos from 2010 to 2020, as a City Commissioner, and on the board of Olmito Water Supply Corporation. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Los Fresnos and of the Knight of Columbus.

In his leisure time, Polo enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching football, and to barbeque.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carlota Z. Narvaez; his parents, Higinio and Emilia Narvaez; and his sister, Antonia Narvaez.

Left to treasure Polo's memory are his daughters, Emilia "Millie" Garcia (Eddie) and Dora Narvaez Gonzales (Antonio); his grandchildren, Richard Paul Garcia (Ashley), Eduardo Garcia Jr., Antonio Gonzalez IV, Emily Rose Gonzalez, great grandchildren, Aaliyah Linda Palacios and Delilah Marie Palacios; and sisters, Leonides Garcia (Roman), Maurelia Narvaez Cantu, Paula Garcia (Mike) and Teresa Sandate (Victor).

The family would like to thank Allstate Hospice, Crystal, Dominque, and Sonia Sanchez for their care.

The Narvaez family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7 o'clock on Thursday evening.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 15, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Los Fresnos.  Following the service, Polo will be laid to rest at Los Cuates Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Mark Milum, Ruben Trevino, Donald Henderson, Victor Sandate, Antonio Gonzalez IV, Antonio Gonzales III, and Eduardo Garcia Jr.   Rigoberto Gonzalez, Roman Garcia, Eduardo Garcia, and Richard Paul Garcia will serve as honorary pallbearers.
