Irma G. Flores

July 1, 1952 — January 8, 2026

Irma G. Flores, age 73, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026, in Harlingen, Texas. Born on July 1, 1952, in Robstown, Texas, she was the daughter of Rafael Gomez and Lydia Zuniga Gomez.

Irma graduated from San Benito High School, Class of 1972. After graduation, in 1973 she married the love of her life Armando G. Flores. They spent 52 wonderful years together as husband and wife.

She started her career with Levi Strauss Co. in San Benito Texas and worked her way up to a Superior position. She devoted 16 years to her work at that factory and made numerous friendships that lasted her entire life. In addition to her professional achievements, she went on become a caregiver to her mother and father later in their lives as well.

Irma made the decision to become an active member of LULAC organization to make a difference in her community. In addition, she joined the committee who had the task in planning the yearly gathering of the Levi’s Roundup Appreciation Get Together, where former employees would reminisce, laugh, eat, and enjoy each others company. She also found joy as a church member at the Highway 510 Christian Center Church, where she held the position of secretary and would volunteer at their yearly church events. She held a deep faith in the Lord and she would listen to Christian music, and read the Bible often together with Armando. Her passions included gardening, particularly nurturing her plants at home, and by her side was always her deeply faithful, loved pet dog Chance. She and Chance were inseparable.

Irma was fearless when it came to taking a stance for what she believed was right for the people she loved or community. Her smile was big, welcoming, and bright enough to light up any room she walked into, along with her laugh, just like her, they are unforgettable. She was a friend to all she met in her lifetime, once a friendship was made with her you could expect it to just be a phone call away when needed.

Irma treasured family gatherings and deeply valued time spent with loved ones and friends. She always gave unconditional love to her children, grandchildren, and family in all situations of life. Irma will be greatly missed and leaves a legacy of love, friendship, and faith. She will always live on in everyone’s hearts, and memories, she will be spoken of for generations within her family.

Irma is preceded in death by her parents, Rafael and Lydia Gomez; her sisters, Dolores Garcia and Gracie Alvarado; and her brothers, Ruben Gomez and Rafael Gomez Jr. She is survived by her devoted husband, Armando G. Flores; her children, Noe Flores (Maria Cazares) and Lydia Flores; and her beloved grandchildren, Christian Flores, Joshua Flores, and Rolando Salazar Jr. Additionally, Irma is survived by her siblings, Esmeralda Cantu (Richard), Olga Garza (Lupe), Faustino Gomez (Nelda), Ernesto Gomez (Esther), Gilberto Gomez (Esmeralda), Jesus Gomez (Diana), Benny Gomez (Amanda), Samuel Gomez, and Robert Gomez; along with her brothers-in-laws, Benito Flores Jr. (Angie), Arnulfo Flores (Janie), Placido Ramirez (Anita), Albert Flores (Isabel), and Arnoldo Flores, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, who loved her endlessly and will miss her sense of humor, warmth, and love as well.
