Isidro "Chilo" Montemayor, Sr.

Isidro “Chilo” Montemayor, Sr., of San Benito/La Paloma, Texas, passed away to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 23, 2022. Preceding him in death and there to receive Isidro in Heaven is his father, Gilberto Montemayor, Sr.; his mother, Paula Naranjo Montemayor; sister, María Elena Contreras; brother, Martin Montemayor, Sr.; sisters-in-law, Irma Montemayor and Monica Montemayor; and brothers-in-law, Ernest “Pete” Hurley, and Israel Martinez.

Isidro worked at Levi Strauss & Company for over 15 years until his retirement. He was very humble and was a caring son, brother, and uncle. He was a loving father to his four children and seven grandchildren and kind-hearted to his family and friends. He would never say no to whatever you asked of him and would always be there for you. Isidro enjoyed sewing, barbequing, fishing, taking care of Jesse’s horse, and watching old TV shows – Andy Griffith and western movies.

Left to treasure Isidro’s memory are his children who he loved very much – his daughters, Letty Buentello and Delia Castro; his sons, Fred Flores III and Isidro Montemayor, Jr.; grandchildren, Julissa Martinez, Stephanie Castro, Fred Flores IV, Jacob Castro, Anyssa Castro, Avery Flores, and Mila Llanos. He is also survived by his brothers, Gilberto Montemayor Jr., Rolando Montemayor, Alejos Montemayor, and Jesús “Jesse” (Claudia) Montemayor; his sisters, Alicia Hurley, Antonia “Toni” Montemayor, Gracie (Ismael) Garza, and Norma Martinez; sister-in-law, Aurora Montemayor; brother-in-law, Raul Contreras; and many nieces and nephews who will forever cherish his memory.

Honored to serve as pallbearers to carry Isidro to his rest are his sons, Isidro Montemayor Jr., and Fred Flores III; his nephews, Jesse Anthony Montemayor, Ismael “Miles” Garza Jr., Martin “Marty” Montemayor Jr., Raul Montemayor, and Reynaldo Escobedo; and his dear friend, Rosendo “Chendo” Agado.

The Montemayor family will receive relatives and friends Friday, April 29, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will take place Friday at 6:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in La Paloma, Texas. Following the Mass, Isidro will be laid to rest at La Paloma Cemetery.
