Jack E. Jenkins

Jack E. Jenkins, 71, of Harlingen, TX died at Valley Baptist Hospital on July 1, 2018.

Jack was born on September 12, 1946 in Herrin, IL to Freeda and Belton Jenkins who preceded him in death.  He is also preceded in death by his brother, Steve Jenkins.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Penny Magnuson Jenkins; his sister, Gwen Brichetto (Lou); his 4 children, Tracy (John) Hitchcock, Michael (Kim) Jenkins, Jackie (Eli) Jenkins and Beth (Wil) Jenkins.  His 9 grandchildren gave him great joy; Jack Jenkins, Danielle Gonzales, Gabrielle Gonzales, Matthew Ramos, Alorah Hitchcock, Hudson Jenkins, Michael Ramos, John Jenkins and Wilfredo Chavarro.

He enjoyed fishing and golf.  He was an Army Veteran and a Purple Heart recipient  He served as a medic in Korea and was wounded in 1968 trying to rescue three fellow soldiers.

A memorial service will be held at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home at 2 pm on July 6, 2018.  Family and friends are invited to share their memories of Jack.
