Jacqueline Pitts Moody, 73, better known as Jackie Moody, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023.
Jackie was born on May 27, 1950, in Harlingen, Texas, to Helen Marion Hitchman Pitts and Johnny Thomas Pitts Sr. The Pitts family moved to San Benito in 1943. Jackie grew up in San Benito with her sister and two brothers. She graduated from San Benito High School in 1969.
Jackie married the love of her life, B. C. Bud “Buddy” Moody, on October 18, 1974, at the Hales County Courthouse in Plainview, Texas, while custom harvesting. They lived in La Feria, Texas, where they farmed. Jackie later obtained her real estate license selling real estate with her husband, Buddy. She and Buddy opened South Texas Realty. Jackie furthered her education and got her real estate broker and mortgage loan officer licenses working with her husband. They had a successful career in real estate that allowed them to raise five kids. They were blessed with four boys and one girl. Jackie was a proud member of Cameron County Friends of NRA for over 20 years with her husband. She helped manage the La Feria 4-H Club for over ten years. She served on numerous local boards such as the HHS Quarterback Club, PTA, Harlingen Board of Realtors, Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show Shop Project Committee for 10+ years, and Cameron County Livestock Show Cowgirl Committee '85 to '90, to name a few. Jackie supported Ducks Unlimited, NRA, CCA, Texas PTA, and the National and Texas Association of Realtors. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church for 45+ years (attended as a child with her parents as well). Jackie and Buddy were married for 48 years and would have been married for 49 years on October 18, 2023.
Jackie is preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Moody; daughter, Samantha Ann Moody; parents, Helen & Johnny Pitts Sr.; brother, Johnny Thomas Pitts Jr.; and numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Jackie is survived by her children: Jonathan David (Nancy) Moody; Trey Donald (Theresa) Moody; Heather Nicole Moody (Tate) Helmer; Joshua Regen (Sarah) Moody; Matthew Byron (Debbie) Moody; sister Geraldine Pitts Floyd; brother William Terry Pitts and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jackie had 11 grandchildren: Cheyenne Dakota Moody; Adrianne May Moody-Crawford; Deborah Renea Moody-Cruz; Cassandra Mary Moody; Bailey Regen Helmer; Tatum Hadley Helmer; Stella Noel Moody; Reese Regen Moody; Kyla Reign Moody; Phoenix Aria Moody; Kingsley Mya Moody.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Calvary Baptist Church in Harlingen, Texas, at 3 p.m., officiated by Pastor Ted Elmore.
