Jeffrey “Jeff” Norman Jones, 45, peacefully passed to be with his Lord on December 13, 2022. His last and most urgent request was to “go home to Harlingen.” This difficult request was honored by family and doctors alike to make this journey as quick and comfortable as possible. Jeff had one day in his home surrounded by his family and close friends. He was content with the knowledge that he had fought a hard battle and done his utmost to have more time with his family.
Jeff attended Harlingen High School, Tyler Junior College, Texas Southmost College, and the University of Texas at Brownsville. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps attaining the rank of Sergeant. His active duty was in Iraq 2004-2005.
With enthusiasm and energy, he participated in anything outdoors – fishing, tennis, golf, and the beach. He coached his girls’ youth soccer, watched dance, gymnastics, karate classes, and loved to hear them sing.
For more than twenty years, Jeff owned and operated a lawn and landscape company and was happiest when outside with his wife working as a team. He was known to have a happy whistle as he worked. He cared for yards and he cared for his clients.
His family and friends will miss his kindness and encouragement given so freely. This good-hearted concern for others was also extended to those that needed a hand up.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Miranda; his four daughters, Kaitlynn, Jeanna, Lauren, and Grace; and two stepsons, Riley Erichsen and Resse Hungerford; his parents, Joe and Fara Jones; brothers, Stan Jones (Anna) and Will Jones; nieces, Isabelle, Paige, and Gwen; grandmother, Marge Flados; and in-laws, Ike and Sue Clark.
His friends, Jerry, Jessie, and Asa Wade, were towers of strength and helpfulness for Jeff and his family. Words cannot express the gratitude felt by all. The family is also grateful for the tender care shown by the staffs of the ICU and Oncology Departments of Methodist Hospital in San Antonio.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Andrew Hubbs, Arthur Wright, Gil Staton, SgtMaj. David Miller, GySgt. Rene Avedaño, GySgt. Mark Olivarez, Sgt. Jorge Cruz, and Cpl. Tony Martinez.
