John A. Renneker

John A. Renneker, aged 62, passed away peacefully at his home, on Sunday, October 5, 2025, after a difficult battle with cancer. He is preceded in death by his parents Lenore Renneker and Robert (Bob) Renneker.

John was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He served his community as a firefighter for 35 years with dedication and courage until he retired in 2020.

John devoted his life to protecting others, showing unwavering bravery in the face of danger and compassion to those in need. He was a respected leader in the fire department, who not only faced danger head on, but also mentored and inspired countless firefighters throughout his career.

In retirement, he enjoyed fishing, traveling, and most of all, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and his close friends. He will be remembered for his big heart, his playful teasing, and the way he always showed up when it mattered the most.

He leaves behind his wife, Nancy Renneker, his son, Brian (Shelby) Renneker, his mother-in-law Aida Leston, two grandchildren, several siblings, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins as well as many dear friends and former colleagues, who will miss him dearly.

The Renneker family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday, October 12, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Following the service, John will be laid to rest at Mont Meta Memorial Park.

Serving as pallbearers will be Rodrigo Avila, Jeffrey Feurtado, Patrick Griem, Bryan Lane, Reace Lane, Emilio Leos, Klay Price and Pat Reilly. Honorary pallbearers are Joe David Kilbourne, Oscar Renneker and John B. Scogin.

Though he may be gone, the love he gave and the example he set will live forever.
