José Niño, Sr.

March 19, 1934 — November 23, 2022

José Niño, Sr. entered eternal life on Wednesday, November 23, 2022. His spirit is carried on by his wife of sixty-three years, Antonia L. Niño, his ten children, twenty-three grandchildren, four surviving siblings, and an extended family of relatives and friends from every walk of life.

José was known for his kindness and his willingness to help in every way he could. He was quite literally the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back if needed.  José loved to sit with you and reminisce about past events in great detail. He enjoyed riddle telling, not easy riddles though, the kind that had you thinking for days. He loved fishing and the quality time spent with his sons and grandchildren. José enjoyed working as a truck driver (troquero) and a migrant contractor. Every six months, he and his family would pack up and migrate to Iowa along with other states to work in the fields. José was a God-fearing man and he brought up his children to be God-fearing Christians.

Anyone who knew José Niño, Sr. knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for. José  was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Niño, his parents, Julian Niño, Sr. and Domitila C. Niño; his brothers, Guadalupe Niño and Julián Niño, Jr.; and sister, Nazaria Gonzalez.

He is survived by his loving wife, Antonia L. Niño; his children, José (Juanita), Sylvia, Jaime, Javier, Samuel (Sylvia), Leticia (Peter), Esmeralda, Joel (Jessica), Julian (Maricela), Antonio (Valerie); and twenty-three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. José is also survived by his siblings, Maria, Valentin, Yolanda, and Catalina.
