Jose Adan Montemayor

Jose Adan Montemayor, age 66, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2025, in Harlingen, Texas. He was born on September 8, 1958, in San Benito, Texas, to Miguel Montemayor and Sarita Rodriguez Montemayor.

Known affectionately to his community as Joe Cadillac, Jose grew up in San Benito where he developed a passion for music. A lifelong musician, participating in numerous local bands from his teenage years. His passions extended beyond music to include cooking, baking, and sports such as baseball and football. A guiding principle in his life was the belief that "God repairs and restores relationships."

He is preceded in death by his parents, Miguel and Sarita Montemayor; his brother George Montemayor; and his daughter, Vanessa Montemayor.

Jose is survived by his children, Jose Montemayor Jr., Raymond Montemayor, Jonathan Montemayor, and Shayla Marie Montemayor. He also leaves behind his grandson, Jon Joseph Montemayor, who carries forward his legacy of music, along with his siblings Sylvia Koite, Oralia Montemayor, Diana Galvan, Robert Montemayor, and Johnny Montemayor.

Jose’s legacy will continue through the love and memories shared by his family and friends. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

His great voice and musical talent will never be forgotten.
