Jose E. Moreno

Jose E. Moreno, age 75, passed away peacefully on the morning of November 26, 2025, at his home with his wife by his side.

He was born November 15, 1950, in his hometown of San Benito where he met the Love of his Life, Ninfa and were married for 57 years. Together, they planted their roots in Los Indios, Texas, and were blessed with five children. He was a loving father, husband, and grandfather.

At a young age, he found the passion for truck driving and followed that career for 48 years until he retired.

He found joy and happiness in drinking his morning or late evening coffee with his wife and compadres at the local Whataburger, playing scratch off lotto tickets, watching the San Benito Greyhounds on football Fridays, and sitting on the porch with his favorite girl Genie, who never left his side.

He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters, and his eldest and beloved son, Jose E. Moreno, Jr.

He is survived by his wife Ninfa Moreno; his children Monica (Darryl) Branch, Joel (Amanda) Moreno, Julian (Roxanne) Moreno; stepson, Rogerio (Norma) Mercado; his daughter-in-law, Sandra Moreno; his brother, Domingo Moreno as well as 21 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

The family would like to give a special thanks to his provider, Eleazar Garza, Maria CNA, Chris RN, Rosanna RN Liaison and the staff from Gentiva Hospice for their compassion, care and support, APC provider services, Maria Williams FNP, and the Wellmed Staff.

The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7:00 o’clock Tuesday evening. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on December 3, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Following the Mass, Jose will be laid to rest at Las Rucias Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Rogerio Mercado Jr., Jose E. Moreno III, Dylan I. Moreno, Matthew Moreno, Jonahs Rodriguez, and Tony Moreno Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Joel Moreno and Julian Moreno.
