Juan Guadalupe Galindo

March 23, 1942 — April 1, 2023

Juan Guadalupe Galindo, 81, peacefully passed away April 1, 2023, at his home in San Benito, Texas. He was born to Manuel and Manuela Galindo on March 23, 1942, in McAllen, Texas.

Juan was a veteran of the National Guard and a graduate of Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Education degree with a certification in bilingual education. He was a professional educator with Harlingen CISD until his retirement.

In his leisure time, Juan enjoyed gardening, especially planting and nurturing plants native to the Rio Grande Valley to create a butterfly habitat. He also enjoyed woodworking making decorative crosses, building mailboxes, and creating other wood and metal works of art.

He was of the Catholic faith and a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church in San Benito.

Juan is preceded in death by his mother, Manuela Hernandez.

Left to treasure his memory is his loving wife, Alma Flores Galindo; brother-in-law, Francisco Flores (Cleo); sister-in-law, Gloria Soliz; cousins, Berta Hernandez and Teresa Gonzalez; and several nieces and nephews.

Alma wishes to thank cardiologist Dr. Michael Evans, MD; internist Dr. Martin Kuye, MD; Dr. Salazar from the Veterans Administration clinic in Harlingen; Dr. Nolan Perez, MD; caregivers Isabel Mata, Angela Vallesa, Minerva de la Rosa, Flor Esquivel, and Suzie Lovegren, the nurses of Greater Valley Hospice with special thanks to Mary, C.N.A.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, April 9, 2023 from 6 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. A Communion Service will be celebrated Monday, April 10, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Rite of Committal and interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are James Lovegren, Francisco Flores, Jr., Gilbert Aguirre II, Gilbert Marroquin, Josue Esquivel, and Ricardo Rios.
