Juan Saldaña Jr., 85, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2023 in Harlingen, Texas. He was born to the late Juan Saldaña Sr. and Dolores Garcia Saldaña on June 19, 1938 in La Paloma, Texas.
Juan was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Dolores Saldaña; his wife, Martha Saldaña; his brother, Otilio Saldaña; his sister, Antonia Guerra; and his daughter-in-law, Araceli Saldaña.
Left to treasure Juan’s memory are his children, Norma (Hector Sr.) De Ochoa, Rosalva (Juan Sr.) Vela, Noe (ꝉAraceli) Saldaña, Martha Elena Garcia, Isaac (Graciela) Saldaña, Rogelio Saldaña, and Alma Ornelas; 19 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Harlingen Medical Center ICU Staff for their care.
The Saldaña family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday, November 19, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7 o’clock on Sunday evening. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, November 20, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church. Following the Mass, Juan will be laid to rest at Garcia Cemetery in El Ranchito.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Juan Jose Vela Jr., James Saldaña, Isaac Saldaña Jr., Eric David Alaniz, David Montelongo, Marcelino Ibarra III, Jorge Vasquez, and Juan Antonio Saldaña. Gavin Espericueta will serve as honorary pallbearer.
