Judy M. Hervey

October 17, 1940 — November 7, 2022

Judy Maher Hervey, 82, born October 17, 1940, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, peacefully passed from this life on November 7, 2022.  Her loved ones will miss her dearly but take comfort in knowing that Heaven gained a beautiful angel this week.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, David and Lenore “Mickey” Maher; her sister, Marlene Rucker; and her brother, Thomas Maher.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-two years, Albert M. “Mike” Hervey, Jr.; daughter, Mona (Mike) Hayes; son, Charles (Tricia) Hervey; granddaughters, Laura (Quinn) Kupish, Angela (Jared) Miller, Jane Claire Hervey (Manik Raj Nakra), JoAnn Hervey, Michael Hervey; great-grandchildren, Clara Kupish and Colt Kupish; brother Dan (Marianne) Maher; sisters, Marion (Tom) Tucker and Debbie (John) Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Judy was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church of San Benito for sixty-two years and an active member of her local PEO Chapter. Vibrant and beautiful, she had numerous gifts, including a mastery of stained-glass work and a wonderful singing voice. Late into her life, she was an active hiker, a lover of the outdoors, and an avid gardener. Judy had a gift for making the world a more beautiful place, and her family feels blessed to call her theirs.

As her family mourns the loss of a true matriarch, they will fondly recall the countless gatherings of friends and loved ones she hosted in her home. Her hospitality and warmth filled the hearts of those around her and extended to the canine friends that frequented her resaca-front patio. She cherished a St. Francis statute that graced her garden for many years, and in his words, “a single sunbeam is enough to drive away many shadows.” For years to come, her loved ones will treasure the beams of light traveling through the beautiful stained-glass windows that fill the home she left behind.

A graveside service will take place on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Monte Meta Memorial Park in San Benito, Texas.
