Justin Gomez

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Justin Guadalupe Gomez, age 17, who gained his wings on Sunday, July 6, 2025. Justin was a cherished son and beloved brother, known for his genuine spirit and unique character.

Born on November 20, 2007, at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas, Justin was the son of Norma Linda Garza and Roger Gomez. He proudly graduated from San Benito High School, where he made lasting memories and friendships.

Justin had a passion for online gaming, engaging in universal gaming tournaments as a member of the URNM-Unreal Nightmare team, where he earned the affectionate nickname “Stick”. His competitive spirit attracted a following and many enjoyed viewing their spirited competitions.

As a devoted fan of the Texas Longhorns, Justin eagerly followed the team, despite not having had the opportunity to attend any games. He loved spending quality time with his family, sharing laughter over barbecues, watching football, and enjoying life’s simple moments with his mommy and sister, Sam.

Justin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Guadalupe and Maria Gomez.

He is survived by his mother, Norma Linda Garza; father, Roger Gomez; and sister, Samantha Rae Flores. He also leaves behind his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfredo and Aida Garza; aunts, Minerva Garza-Cruz (Vivian) and Sandra Garza (Jackie); uncles, Fred Garza Jr. (Sandra), Richard Garza, and Paul Garza; as well as numerous cousins, including Dariusz King Garza, Richard Garza Jr., Angel Garza, Maria Guadalupe Garza, Danny Garza, Amber Renae, Amberly, Georgie, Audrey, and Averly Hernandez.

The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to His Grace Foundation, Judi Peters with Teamwalkerpete Foundation, Candlelighters, Julio Robles, and Tia Mine for their support during this difficult time.

The family will receive friends and relatives on Monday, July 14, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7 o’clock Monday evening. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Following the Mass, Justin will be laid to rest at Mont Meta Memorial Park.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Richard Garza Sr., Richard Garza Jr., Angel Garza, Vivian Cruz, Paul Garza, and Ernie Martinez. Honorary pallbearers are Grandpa Fred Garza Sr., Fred Garza Jr., Daruisz K. Garza, and George Hernandez Jr.
