Louis F. Martin, Jr.

July 23, 1943 — May 30, 2025

Harlingen, Texas

Louis F. Martin, Jr. went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 30, 2025, at the age of 81. Born in Springfield, Illinois, to Louis Martin, Sr. and Eleanor, Louis grew up in Cairo, Illinois, and graduated from Cairo High School in 1961. He served honorably for 8 ½ years in the Illinois and Texas National Guards, demonstrating his dedication to his country and community.

In the late 1960s, Louis moved to Texas, where he began his career in the banking industry in Victoria. In 1972, he relocated to Harlingen to accept a position as a loan officer at the Harlingen National Bank. It was there that he met the love of his life, Mary Ann Alcott. They united in marriage in 1974 and soon after moved to McAllen, where Louis worked in the financial department at Yoder Motor Company. During their time in McAllen, Louis and Mary Ann came to know and embrace the Lord Jesus Christ.

In 1978, they returned to Harlingen, where the Rio Hondo Baptist Church became their home church. It was there that they worshiped and faithfully served the Lord together. Louis continued his professional journey by taking over the family business, Redelco, in 1991, dedicating his time and energy for three decades before retiring. Louis made significant improvements to the property, having a special fondness for the flagpole that proudly displayed the American flag beside Village South. His love for property management was only surpassed by his love for people, as he greeted everyone with a warm smile, a firm handshake, or a heartfelt hug. Louis was a true patriot who loved his country deeply. He cherished his family, friends, and beloved pups, Bella and Pepper. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew him.

Louis is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Ann Martin; his son, Jim Martin, and his wife, Tracy; his daughter, Jeni Martin; and his beloved grandson, Chase Martin. He is also survived by his brothers, Mike, Kenton, and Kris; his sisters, Deanna and Shawn; as well as many extended family members and dear friends who will always cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his brother, Pat.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Victoria Comfort Homes for the exceptional care, compassion, and support they provided during Louis’s final days.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Rio Hondo Baptist Church. The family will receive family and friends starting at 10:30 a.m., with the service to follow at 11:00 a.m., led by Pastor Danny Anderson. Together, we will honor and celebrate the life of Louis F. Martin, Jr.—a man whose deep love for his Savior, family, and country will always be remembered and cherished. Memorials may be made to the Rio Hondo Baptist Church Pantry.
