Brownsville, TX:
Lt. J.G. Lester Junod Boykin, 82, passed away Monday, January 29, 2007 at Canterbury Court in Harlingen. He was a former resident of Falls Church, VA and moved to Brownsville in 2000.
Lester was born in Washington, DC on August 27, 1922 to Lester E. and Grace Boykin. He retired from the U.S. Navy and Reserves, serving during World War II and was awarded the Victory Medal.
Lester was a graduate of George Washington Law School with a J.D. and also from Duke University with a B.A. in Economics. He was a former agent with the F.B.I. and finally retired from the military as Head of Security at the Pentagon.
Survivors include his wife, Maria Paez Boykin of Brownsville, TX; sister, June Power and her husband, Thomas of Arlington, VA; brother-in-law, Enrique Paez of Mexico City; numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
A visitation and gathering of family and friends will be held, Saturday, February 3, 2007 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.
As per Lester’s wishes he will be cremated and his ashes will be inurned in a columbarium at Arlington National Cemetery with Full Military Honors at a later date.
The family request that those desiring to do so may make memorial donations to the charity of choice.
