Lucilla Garcia Jimenez

August 15, 1922 — September 27, 2023

Lucilla G. Jimenez, 101, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2023 in Harlingen, Texas. She was born to the late Luis and Berta Garcia on August 15, 1922 in San Benito, Texas.

In her leisure time, Lucilla enjoyed shopping, gardening, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and our Sunday family dinners.

Whether we called her mom, grandma, great-grandma, great-great-grandma, sister, cousin, or friend, we were blessed to have been a part of this incredible woman's life. She was the matriarch of our family and her loss has so many of our hearts in a deep and sorrowful sadness. My Grandma would love it if we instead celebrated her life by reminiscing about all of the wonderful memories we shared with her. She impacted so many of our lives and showed many of us what unconditional love feels like. I knew I could count on my Grandma for anything. I'm gonna miss everything about you Grandma. But I am going to miss your voice and your sweet hugs the most. We all love you so much and we hope you are resting in the most peaceful eternal sleep.

She was preceded in death by her husband Alejandro Jimenez.

Left to treasure Lucilla’s memory are her children, Corinna Leos, Luis Jimenez and Cynthia Walker; her grandchildren, Vido Jimenez, Alexis Cardenas, Rick Walker, Emilio Jimenez, Marc Leos, Gina Jimenez and Carla Leos. She is also survived by Robert and Alicia Tapia, Gilberto and Kuka Lerma, Socorro Saldana, and Carmen Ramirez.

The Jimenez family will receive friends and relatives on October 3, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home.  A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday evening.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on October 4, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church.  Following the Mass, Lucilla will be laid to rest at Mont Meta Memorial Park.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Marc Leos, Rick Walker, Ruben Cardenas, Emilio Jimenez, Adam Saldana, and Alfonso Lerma.  Vido Jimenez and Luis Jimenez will serve as honorary pallbearers.
