Lucinda Lopez Olvera

Lucinda Lopez Olvera, 83, of Rio Hondo, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2025. She was born on March 30, 1942, in Rio Hondo, Texas, to Manuel P. Lopez and Maria Cruz Lugo Lopez.

Lucinda was a proud 1962 Rio Hondo High School graduate and furthered her education at Durn Business College in San Antonio. She dedicated 27 years of her career as a Business Manager for Dr. Theodoro McMillan before retiring. Throughout her life, she was an active member of the Assemblies of God, where her faith flourished.

God blessed our family with a wonderful woman of faith. Throughout her life, Lucinda was a beacon of unconditional love for her family. Her kindness and generosity were felt by everyone who knew her. She had an unwavering devotion to her children and grandchildren, attending every sporting event and competition to cheer them on as their most enthusiastic supporter. Known for her vibrant personality, Lucinda made friends easily and maintained a wonderful ability to connect with others. She embraced life with joy and laughter, showcasing her impeccable fashion sense through her stylish outfits and matching accessories. Her passion for decorating, gardening, crafting, and sewing enriched her life and the lives of those around her.

Lucinda is preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Maria Lopez, and her sister, Lydia L. Calderon. She is survived by her husband, Teodoro H. Olvera; her children, Sandra Olvera and Michael Olvera (Norma); her grandchildren, Biranna Lopez (Oracio), Christian J. Olvera, Clarrissa M. Olvera, Enrique Rodriguez Jr., and Isaiah M. Olvera; as well as one great-grandchild, Brayden Oriel Lopez. Lucinda also leaves behind her siblings, Mary Lou Ponce (Carlos), Rene Lopez (Nora), Leticia Sparks (Andy), and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to her daughter, Sandy, for her unwavering commitment to Lucinda’s care, as well as the ICU nurses at Harlingen Medical Center for their compassionate support.

A memorial service to celebrate Lucinda’s life will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home.
