Maria Enriqueta Rodriguez

Maria Enriqueta Rodriguez, 87, peacefully passed on September 17, 2023 in San Benito, Texas.  She was born to Guadalupe Gomez and Julia Garcia Gomez on April 6, 1936, in San Pedro, Texas.

Maria was of the Catholic faith and was member of St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church.  She worked for Brownsville ISD and retired after 18 years of service.

In her leisure time, Maria enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and crafts.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Guadalupe Rodriguez; her parents, Guadalupe and Julia Gomez; siblings, Jose Antonio Gomez, Angelita Yanez, Adelaida Gomez; son-in-law, Ricardo Gonzalez; and sister-in-law, Maria Lily Rodriguez

Left to treasure Maria’s memory is her daughter, Maria Melida Gonzalez and her grandchildren, Brenda Lee Gaitan, Stacey Lee Gonzalez, and Richard Eric Gonzalez.

The family would like to thank WellMed, Nayeli Medina of Bee First, the staff of Harlingen Heart Clinic, the staff of Wound Management Clinic, the staff of Golden Palms Nursing Home, and United Home Renal Care for their care.

The Rodriguez family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, September 21, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home.  A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7 o’clock Thursday evening.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 22, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church. Following the Mass, Maria will be laid to rest at El Calaboz Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Richard Eric Gonzalez, Brenda Lee Gaitan, Stacy Lee Gonzalez, Eduardo Moreno, Frances Galvan, and Juan Medina Jr. The following individuals will serve as honorary pallbearers: Michael Garza, Daniel Gaitan, Gianni Gaitan, Maddox Gaitan, and Ashley Garcia.
