Maria T. Kosel

Maria T. Kosel, 89, peacefully passed away on October 24, 2023 in San Benito, Texas.  She was born to Tomas Torres and Abelarda Davila on November 14, 1933 in San Benito, Texas.

Maria was of the Catholic faith and was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. In her leisure time, she enjoyed gardening and playing dominoes and cards with family and friends.

Maria was preceded in death by her daughter, Maria Guadalupe “Lupita” Rodriguez; brothers, Jose Guadalupe Garza, Uvaldo Torres, Manuel Davila; and her sister, Lupita Quiroz.

Left to treasure Maria’s memory is her husband, Roy H. Kosel; her children, Jose Israel Rodriguez Jr. (Esmeralda), Dorina Rodriguez, Tomas “Tommy” Rodriguez (Sarah); her grandchildren, Jose Israel Rodriguez III, Marissa Rodriguez, Joaquin Jaimez; her great-grandchildren, Matthew Isaiah Rodriguez and Joseph Christopher Rodriguez-Perez; her sisters, Isabel Arizmendez, Esperanza Gonzalez, Maria E. Amaya, Rosa Molina, Juanita Hernandez, Mary Ramos (Lalo); and her brother, Juan Davila (Aleja).

The Kosel family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. The recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7 o’clock Thursday evening.  A Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 10:00 at St. Benedict Catholic Church.  As per Maria’s wishes, cremation will follow.
