Minerva "Minnie" Sanchez

Minerva “Minnie” Sanchez, 67, peacefully passed into eternal life on Sunday, January 24, 2021.  She was born in Villa Cavazos, Texas on October 1, 1953 to the late Narciso and Eudelia Garcia Sanchez.

After graduating high school, Minerva went on to complete university studies and received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Accounting.  She was a certified teacher and taught in the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District for 20 years.

In her leisure time, Minerva enjoyed reading her Bible and Christian books and watching the Dallas Cowboys on television.  She also loved to eat sweets.

Minerva was preceded in death by her parents, Narciso and Eudelia Sanchez; sister, Maria Yolanda Sanchez; and brother, Samuel Sanchez.

She is survived by her brother, Juan (Esmeralda) Sanchez; sisters, Elvia Sanchez and Rosa Lydia (Ignacio) Lopez; nephews, Samuel (Fiancé Brittany Sauceda) Sanchez, Juan (Veronica) Sanchez, Jr., Joel Lopez, Ruben Lopez; nieces, Eudelia Sanchez and Kimberly Lopez; numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Minerva’s family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, January 28, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home.  A Prayer Service will begin at 7 o’clock on Thursday evening. A Graveside service and interment will take place on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at El Naranjo Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Juan Sanchez, Juan Sanchez, Jr., Joe Hernandez, Samuel Sanchez, Rene Garcia, and Rolando Garcia.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home, 1400 W. Business 77, San Benito, Texas 78586.

All guests must wear a facial covering and practice social distancing while visiting the funeral home.
