Pedro “Pete” Valenzuela, Jr., 92, passed peacefully from this life on June 8, 2021 with his family by his side. He was born to the late Pedro Valenzuela, Sr. and Paulita Mendoza Valenzuela on July 3, 1928 in San Benito, Texas.
Pete retired from the grocery business after a lifetime as a grocery store manager. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was a “Jack of all trades”. He was a devout Catholic, a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, and a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro Valenzuela Sr. and Paulita Mendoza Valenzuela; daughter, Nelda Jean Button; siblings, Arcadio, Amadeo, Heriberto, Audencia, Elisa, Elida, and many nephews and nieces.
Left to treasure his memory are his loving wife Viola; children, Norma Linda Saavedra, Nora Ann Blackwell, Pedro “Peter” Valenzuela III, Viola Pope, and Irma Corkill; his grandchildren, Christopher Saavedra, Christina Arteaga, Valerie Larson, Ashley Button, Leanne Blackwell, Marci Blackwell, Amanda de Leon, Pedro “Peter” Valenzuela IV, Mark Anthony Valenzuela, Donna Kay Pope, Kenneth Corkill, and Keith Corkill; and, 17 great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 11, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Christopher Saavedra, Peter Valenzuela IV, Kenneth Lee Corkill, Keith Corkill, Thaddeus de Leon, and E.J. Rodriguez.
