Petra Reyes

Petra Reyes, 80, passed peacefully on January 28, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.  She was born to the late Emigdio Reyes and Abundia Rocha on October 1, 1940 in Guadalcazar, San Luis Potosí, México.

She was known for her delicious, authentic Mexican food including her famous carne guisada, flour tortillas, and tamales.  Petra enjoyed gardening and had a love for all kinds of flowers.

Left to treasure her memory are her children, Raquel (Joe) García, Norma (Raul) Rodríguez, Blanca Escobedo, Victor M. Reyes; grandchildren, Norma López, Niquelle López, Joe Luis García, Jr., Isabella García, Alejandro (Christina) Rodríguez, Raúl Rodríguez, Jr., Jorge (Amayrani) Salinas, Janette Salinas, Clarissa (Rufus) Reyes, Cassandra (Marco V) Reyes, Chantal Reyes, Víctor Reyes, Jr., Aaron Reyes; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Marcelina Sánchez, Chano Reyes, Hildeberto Reyes, Artemio Reyes; and, her beloved pet CoCoa.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Juan Escobedo; grandson, Edward García; sister, María Loreto Reyes; brothers, Humberto Reyes, Chon Reyes, and Emigdio Reyes; and son-in-law, Enrique Zamarripa.

Visitation will take place on Monday, February 1, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home.  A Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7 o’clock on Monday evening. Graveside service and interment will take place on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at Mont Meta Memorial Park.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Alex Rodríguez, Raúl Rodríguez, Raúl Rodríguez, Jr., Joe Luis García, Joe Luis García, Jr., and Jorge Salinas.  Honorary pallbearers are Victor Reyes, Aaron Reyes, and Víctor Reyes, Jr.
