Raquel Serrato

Raquel González Serrato, 74, passed peacefully from this life on August 23, 2021.  She was born November 28, 1946 to the late Pablo González and Elvira Sánchez González in Carricitos (Los Indios), Texas.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, taking care of her family, and spending time with all her family and friends.

Raquel was preceded in death by her parents, Pablo and Elvira S. Gonzalez; her daughter, María Nancy Serrato; granddaughter, Joann Benavidez; brother, Arnulfo González; and sister, Lidia González.

Left to treasure her memory are Raquel’s children, Irma Serrato Padilla (Martin), Everardo Serrato (Marie), Arnoldo Serrato, Hector Serrato (Monica), Juan González (Michelle), Jose Fidencio Alvarado, David Alvarado (Nina Carbajal), Perla Alvarado (Emmanuel Rodríguez), Martin Alvarado (Bessie Alvarado), and Sylvia Serrato. Raquel also leaves behind 56 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, and 3 great great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to express special thanks to her daughter, Perla Alvarado, for her care of Raquel.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home.  A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7 o’clock on Tuesday evening. (Click on the link below to view the Rosary online via live-stream.)

A graveside service and interment will take place Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Gómez Cemetery in Los Indios, Texas. (There will not be a procession from the funeral home.  Everyone should meet at the cemetery.)

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Nathan Alvarado, Jose Fidencio Alvarado, Arnoldo Serrato, Jr., Hector Serrato Jr., Nathaniel Serrato, and Everardo Serrato.
