Robert L. Kandar of San Benito, TX, (formerly of Newton, MA) passed away unexpectedly at Valley Baptist Medical Center, Harlingen, TX, on November 6, 2021, with his family by his side.
Born in Watertown, MA, he was the son of the late George J. and Grace H. (Seufert) Kandar. He was the devoted father of Karen Lussier (Phil), Cynthia Moore (Late Edward), and Paula Spink (David). He was the loving grandfather of Michael and Daniel Budwick, Kaitlyn, Brian, and Kristin Spink, and Alexander Moore. He was also the cherished great-grandfather of Emily and Anna Budwick, Caleb Budwick, and Lucius, Evelynn, and Mariah Wilder. Bob was predeceased by his brothers, Richard, George, and Paul Kandar and his great-granddaughter, Ellie Budwick. Bob leaves many nieces and nephews.
Bob proudly served in the Massachusetts National Guard. He graduated from Watertown Trade School and worked as a Master Plumber and Gasfitter for most of his life. While retired for the past 22 years in South Texas, he enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards and darts, and racing his radio-controlled cars. He was also an avid reader. He will be sorely missed by his family in New Hampshire and Massachusetts as well as his many friends at the Fun-N-Sun Resort in San Benito, TX.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Jude’s Church, Londonderry, NH. Burial will be private at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Watertown, MA. A celebration of Bob’s life will be held with his family and friends in the Spring of 2022 in San Benito, TX. Bob was proud to be a Texan for the last 22 years.
Donations in Bob’s memory may be made to the Sunny Glen Children’s Home, P. O. Box 1373, San Benito, TX 78586; an organization that he faithfully supported over the years.
