Sara S. Hernandez, 103 years of age, 6 weeks away from turning 104 years old, passed peacefully to meet her Lord and Savior JESUSCHRIST on Friday morning, June 19, 2026, surrounded by her loving family leaving behind a legacy of love, joy and unity. Born in Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico on July 31, 1922, she became a resident of San Benito, Texas since 1945.
She accepted the Lord Jesus in her heart as her savior and was baptized in the waters in the month of December 1951. From there on she never looked back and was faithful to God till the last day of her life. She always prayed to God for his blessings and protection for her sons and daughters and their children and the rest of her family. She was the best mother there ever was, and we are greatly thankful to God that He let us have her as our mother for almost 104 years. She always prayed to God for her parents, and she received the blessing from her mother before she passed away in 1968. She guided her sons and daughters in the ways of her Lord Jesus Christ.
She was loved very, very much and will be missed greatly by all her family and friends. But someday we will see her again and it will be a beautiful and joyous day for all of us.
Sara was the fourth of 9 children and the last living sibling. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Jose G. Hernandez in 1994, her parents Manuel Mijares Saldana and Paula Serrano, her brothers Alfonso, Ruben, Luis, Manuel, Jesus, Jose; her sisters, Martina and Maria, daughter Rosa Razo, son Joe Hernandez Jr., and granddaughters, Jessica Hernandez and Amanda Hernandez.
Sara is survived by her 4 sons and 2 daughter, Faustino Hernandez (Andrea), Francisco Hernandez (Ofelia) (Maria †), Armando Hernandez (Connie), Daniel Hernandez, Juanita Heranndez, and Irene H. Vela. Sara is also survived by her 31 grandchildren, 80 great grandchildren, 35 great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews residing in Texas and Torreon, Mexico.
The Hernandez family will receive friends and family on Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
